Microsoft announces end of support for Office 2016/2019

Microsoft announced the end of the support period for several applications in the Office 2016 suite, Office 2019 and several servers. The Redmond, Washington-based firm will no longer provide security patches, bug fixes or technical support after October 14, 2025 to customers who continue to use the following applications and server products:

Access 2016, Access 2019, Excel 2016, Excel 2019, OneNote 2016, Outlook 2016, Outlook 2019, PowerPoint 2016, PowerPoint 2019, Project 2016, Project 2019, Publisher 2016, Publisher 2019, Skype for Business 2016, Skype for Business 2019, Visio 2016, Visio 2019, Word 2016, Word 2019, Exchange Server 2016, Exchange Server 2019, Skype for Business Server 2015, Skype for Business Server 2019.

Microsoft points out that using products after their support period has ended leaves organizations vulnerable to potential security threats, lost productivity and compliance issues.

Switching to the Office 365 E3 cloud suite, which includes Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Teams, and cloud services such as Exchange Online and Sharepoint Online, is recommended for any organization wanting to protect against any interruption in support of this productivity suite.
