Following an outcry from its customers and a possible investigation by the European Union caused by its decision to fundamentally change the pricing and licensing of its VMWare Cloud Foundation (VCF) suite, Broadcom, which acquired VMWare in November 2023, announces that it has decided to backtrack.
Indeed, Broadcom had decided to abolish support for perpetual licenses purchased by customers to push them towards a subscription-based model.
In a blog post, Broadcom President and CEO Hock Tan announced that VMWare will maintain support for perpetual license holders, and that significant price reductions are expected for the VCF suite.
